Hi! My name is Katie Usher, and I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2011 with my Bachelor's degree in Health Education & Behavior and in 2015 from the University of Miami with my DPT. My passion for women's health grew as I entered the hospital-based outpatient system and found how underserved women are in the prenatal and postpartum period. This passion drove me to create my own business to cater to these mama’s, and was only strengthened after having my own daughter in early 2019.
The name Mula Bandha means “root lock” in Sanskrit. “Root” refers to the base of the spine, or perineum, while “lock” refers to the connection of the pelvic floor muscles that hold everything together. In yogic practice, Mula Bandha is an action of engaging through the pelvic floor during a meditative practice to stimulate the lowest energy system which is our base of support for our life. Like the root lock in the body, this business was built in an effort to provide connection, support and stability to the mom community.
